English First

"English First" is an organization within the English-only movement whose mission is to make English the official language of the United States of America. It is headed by racist gun nut Larry Pratt.

English First holds that learning English is a "moral obligation" and that any attempt "to give foreign languages the same status as English" - that is, to provide bilingual materials or education to help immigrant families learn - is unpatriotic.

Working with Rep. Toby Roth (R-WI) and Rep. Peter King (R-NY), English First attempted to draft federal legislation - H.R. 739 and H.R. 1005 - that would repeal both the Bilingual Education Act and the bilingual provisions of the Voting Rights Act.[1] (This probably has something to do with Larry Pratt's fear that Hispanic immigrants are part of a Democratic plot to gain votes.[2])

English First tries to cover up their thinly-veiled racism with the line that their motivation is "costs," but it's not hard to notice their curious fixation on Hispanic immigrants...[3]
