There were rioters from at least 46 states, as well as from DC.[note 1] Most of these people have been charged with multiple crimes, the most serious crimes are listed in each case. They include:

Following the riot, an unprecedented military and police security zone was created around central Washington to prevent people without proper identification from entering.[193] The following people were charged with insurrection-related crimes during that periot

  • Wesley Allen Beeler, Virginia, arrested on a variety of weapons charges after he entered a secure area near the Capitol on January 16.[194]
  • Guy Berry, Virginia, arrested for carrying an unregistered pistol, a large-capacity feeding device, and unregistered ammunition.[193]
  • Linda McGovern, Stratford, Connecticut, was arrested for impersonating a police officer, failure to obey an officer, and fleeing an officer.[193][195]
  • Brendan Hunt, New York, arrested by the FBI on January 19. Hunt, a Trump supporter (and former Occupy Wall Street participant), threatened Democratic Senators as well as Nancy Pelosi and AOC on video. He had not been in Washington on January 6, but said in the video, "We need to go back to the U.S. Capitol when all of the senators and a lot of the representatives are back there, and this time we have to show up with our guns. And we need to slaughter these motherfuckers."[196]
  • Ian Benjamin Rogers of California was arrested on January 26, 2021, and charged with making pipe bombs and planning to go to war against Democrats in order to 'keep' Trump in power.[197]
