Attentional Bias is the tendency of our perception to be affected by our recurring thoughts.


Examples

People who frequently think about the clothes they wear pay more attention to the clothes of others.


How it is exploited

Social Engineers target, for example, a potential employer by looking them up on social media, to find out about their interests and find an opportunity to display “shared interests.” This alters the perception of the person favourably.
