Java Edition:Tall Grass (Item)
Due to bugs, tall grass was obtainable from 14w26a through 14w28a and from 18w43a through 18w43c. As of 25w42a (present), tall grass is obtainable in village chests, making it a recontinued feature.
Obtaining
Breaking
From 14w26c to 14w28a (1.8 snapshots), simply breaking the bottom of a double tall grass would drop an item for each tall grass.[1] Every double tall grass had a chance to drop data value 2 wheat seeds.
Shearing
From 18w43a to 18w43c (1.14 snapshots), using shears on tall grass caused two tall grass items to drop, which also allowed for infinite duplication.[2]
Savanna Village Chest
From 18w49a (1.14 snapshot) and later tall grass is obtainable through savanna village chests.
