Java Edition:Feather Falling on Any Equipment

Feather_Falling_Golden_Chestplate.gif

In Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3, enchanting was still in development - as a result, enchanting an item would only display as "Enchanted!!". Due to the lack of full implementation, the enchantment defaults to an ID of 2 and a level of 1. This was turned into Feather Falling in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4.

Having a full set of Feather Falling IV will boost your fall resistance past the usual limit. Normally, having Feather Falling IV boots alone reduces your fall damage by 48%. The maximum, however, is 80%. Having a full set of Feather Falling IV armor can easily reach this cap, allowing you to almost double your fall damage resistance. You can create Feather Falling IV by combining them in an anvil in snapshot 12w49a, and then again create this discontinued feature using NBT crafting in 23w13a_or_b

Updating Enchanted Armor

Warning: Upgrading
This feature uses upgrading and requires specific version paths. Follow the page instructions carefully.

After enchanting your item in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3, whether it be armor or a tool, updating to Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4 will convert it into Feather Falling. Note that this worked for any enchantment level, meaning it didn't matter if it was a level 1 enchantment or level 50, the enchantment will still be Feather Falling I. This could also be done in 12w49a with Any Enchantment on Any Item, however, this is the only way to get Feather Falling equipment without a repair cost tag. In 12w49a they can be combined together in an anvil up to Feather Falling IV. This is singleplayer exclusive as enchantments only saved on the client side in this version.

By combining the following armor pieces from below with the Feather Falling enchantment in 12w49a, you will also get this discontinued feature.
