The emerald ore item was unobtainable in 12w32a (1.4 snapshot) due to a bug that stopped silk touch from working.

Obtaining

Emerald ore was added to the game in 12w21a (1.3.1 snapshot), originally with the texture of ruby ore. The emerald ore item was obtainable from its introduction until 1.3.2 using a silk touch iron or diamond pickaxe. Emerald ore becomes discontinued in 12w32a (1.4 snapshot) due to a bug that prevented silk touch from working. The silk touch bug is fixed in the next snapshot, 12w34a and it remains obtainable up to 25w42a (present).
