Hello! I'm Nate Pedder, a computer science major at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
My interest in computer science is rooted in my interest in video games. Video games are an excellent showcase of the power that a computer has, and like many others, I became curious of how it all works. I can even attribute my first coding experiences to video games. Little Big Planet and Minecraft introduced me to the concepts of AND OR and XOR gates, and my first IDE was SmileBasic on the 3DS. My goal as an aspiring computer scientist is to be a part of a team that makes software that benefits society.
I have never had a lot of expendable cash to spend on new products, and I hate the idea of sending my belongings to a landfill because it no longer functions, so I always try to repair my own things. When the hinge on my laptop broke, I immediately turned to forum posts and YouTube to plan the repair. Instead of spending $500 on a new laptop, I spent $50 and a few hours to save a perfectly good laptop from a landfill.
In my spare time, I enjoy making and playing video games, playing basketball, and learning new skills.
