Hi, my name is Joselyn Vazquez-Sanchez and I am currently a freshman in SHSU. My major is Forensic Chemistry and my minor is Forensic Science.
Since I was a child, I loved problem-solving. I would play sudoku all the time or try and solve as many riddles as I could. I think that the reason why my favorite subject is math is because there is (usually) always a definite answer for a math problem. Whenever I started high school, I wondered what career I wanted. I expressed to a friend how I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a scientist or work in the criminal justice field. He told me why not do both? He was the one who introduced me to forensic science. I started to research how to become one and now I am here! What lured me in was how you are solving problems but issues that actually matter and help people. I love helping people! Yes, the career is long, at least six years to be able to work in the field but I am really passionate about this. I am still not sure exactly what I want to be, but I know I definitely do not want to be a medical examiner since that takes at least 13 years of higher education. Kudos to those who are passionate for that.
A hobby of mine is that I love playing volleyball. I have been playing since I was in middle school and played for two years in high school. I think my favorite part about playing volleyball is seeing my growth and analyzing how much I have gotten better. I believe it is amazing when we take time to learn a sport, hobby, or anything, you can always look back and see how much you have grown and honed into a skill. All it takes is time and a desire to learn.
Aside from my aspirations and hobbies, I have no experience when it comes to fixing things. But one thing I know is that I am dedicated. Like I stated earlier, I enjoy helping others so I will learn as much as I can about how to repair something and make a guide that is easy to follow for people to use. I hope that people will be able to try and learn to fix things instead of taking the expensive way out which is replacing the item by buying a new one and throwing away the old one causing trash in landfills.
