Hi all!

My name is Jessy Sternblitz. I am a graduate student at the University of North Texas (UNT) majoring in Professional and Technical Communications. I chose this major because I want to create writing that takes something technical and breaks it down for the common person. I believe that everyone should be able to understand technical information if they want to. To make that happen, I want to create writing that is easy and even fun to follow along with.

I hope to become a technical or proposal writer after graduating from this program. I want to be able to work on creating manuals that take everyday objects and make them easy to use. Instructions are valuable pieces of information. To be able to have a hand in making them adaptable and easy to use by everyone, would be incredible to me.

So far, I am still in the learning phase of creating and using software. I am now familiar with Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Word, excel, and PowerPoint. I can use MadCap Flare which is a single sourcing software product. I have knowledge in these softwares and have completed technical writing projects in them. Some projects include software and hardware guides, a Typography Scavenger Hunt of sorts, and even resumes and infographics. I am very organized and dedicated to learning new skills and software. As I continue learning, I would like to gain more experience in software that is crucial for manual writing or single sourcing.

I am currently working on a project for iFixit. After completing this project, I am hoping to gain a better understanding of instruction manuals and how to write them. Instruction manuals are something I want to go more in depth on, so writing this project can help me to gain new skills and understanding of the writing process.

Although I enjoy writing and learning about technical communications, my hobbies are in the arts and crafts areas. I enjoy crocheting and embroidering, but my all-time favorite thing to do is to bake! From cakes to cookies, I love just about any aspect of the baking world. My latest and greatest enjoyment have been cakes and decorating them. Below are some images that I have baked and crocheted! (Top: an axolotl that I crocheted. Middle: a cake I made.
