Hi! My name is Basim Zahran, and I am currently a freshman and a Computer Science major at the University of New Orleans.
In my childhood, while there was technology around, I was never particularly allowed to use it until I was a teenager. From that point on, I became fascinated by it, using any technology that I was able to get my hands on all the time. It was from these experiences that I learned I wanted to be able to work with and advance technology.
My end goal is to earn a Master's Degree in Computer Science and become a software engineer. But, for the time being, I am looking to learn as much as I can in computer science so that I am well-versed in software engineering and know more about technology overall.
One of my main hobbies is playing saxophone (as you can see to the left, that is me, haha). I have played Alto Saxophone since 8th grade, as well as purchased my own in 11th grade so that I could continue to play even after I no longer had an instrument to borrow.
Of course, I also play games; whether it be board games, video games, etc, I enjoy playing with others as it makes everything more fun.
I have also recently been writing in javascript quite a lot, as it is part of the Computer Science program, but I always have fun with it and even complete the bonus problems, so I consider it a hobby.
Here is one of my many animals. He is a cockatiel named Smokey, and he loves sitting on people's heads, especially if they have curly hair. Besides him, I also have another cockatiel, a rabbit, a dog, and a cat.
We also take care of 4 stray cats that live outside. They are all friendly and love getting attention.
