Mumtaaz Mohamoud

Hello! My name is Mumtaaz Mohamoud. I am an undergraduate student at York University in Toronto, Ontario. I am currently in my second year in the Information Technology program at York University.

I wish to learn the many skills required in web development, VR/AR development, app development, and game development.

Throughout my study, volunteering, and work experience I have gained good communication, written, and problem solving skills. I also have some technical skills that I was able to self-learn, such as creating and designing websites using content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, and programming small projects in Python, Java, HTML, CSS and some Javascript.

As mentioned before, I have created websites with content management systems. I’ve also done a couple of small programming projects for every programming language I’ve learned. Using Java, I’ve created a program that is called, Phrase - o -Matic, where random phrases, from a predefined list, will be displayed to the user when the program is run.

Another program I created is called Bubblegum Blaster, where there is a virtual bubblegum machine that has a certain amount of bubblegums in different colors. When the program starts, the machine is shaken and one bubblegum is chosen, the user has to then guess the bubblegum color, if they are right the result will be printed to them, if they are wrong they can play again.

While I don’t have any recent or professional repair experience. I used to fix old technology like phones, tablets, and laptops when I was younger. My family didn’t have a lot of money to throw at new technology, so if I wanted a device before I was allowed to get one, I had to fix a broken one. I did this with my family’s broken tablets, laptops, and cellphones. These fixed devices were often my first devices that I was able to soely own.

I usually spend my free time making digital art, traditional art like oil painting, writing stories, and programming. I have many other interests but unfortunately due to time, they mostly stay interests. I often like to spend time with friends going to a cafe to play games.

I hope I can learn how to resolve more computer hardware issues, phone issues and in general learn how to repair more things as time progresses.
