Hey there! I’m Milena and I started working at iFixit Europe in April 2021. After doing an internship in the community management department for six months, I am happy to continue working there a few hours a week.
I live in Tübingen and am currently doing my masters program in Media Studies with a specific focus on public sphere and (social) responsibility. I am very interested in feminist and queer theory and social justice movements have been very important to me for a while now. Since social discrimination often goes hand in hand with environmental problems I am also trying my best to include sustainability in my everyday life. The fact that iFixit is trying to make the world a better place by helping people to repair things on their own and providing a platform to share knowledge for free is a take on sustainability that I personally support one hundred percent.
During a prior internship and I was able to gain practical experience at a fair fashion shop in online communication and social media management, now I’d like to get to know another side of e-commerce. What I bring to the table: openness to new challenges and people, a head that likes to ponder for hours and analyze things down to the smallest detail and a lot of motivation to contribute to something 'meaningful'.
Unlike many others in the iFixit Community, I am not particularly talented in terms of repairing things (so far!), but luckily I also rarely break things (unfortunately my main problem is that I tend to lose my headphones). Once I unscrewed my MacBook to clean the fan and felt like a real pro though… I even made a guide about that hint
In my spare time I spend a lot of time with my two dogs Müsli and Wilma. I love being outside in nature and exploring new places but I'm also very happy and content just staying at home, relaxing on my couch with good music and entertaining podcasts, literature, films and series. I also really enjoy cooking (and most importantly: eating). Animal rights, human rights and environmentalism concern me a lot, which is why I consider myself lucky that iFixit's mission also shares my interests and my desire to change this world for good.

Hey hey! Ich heiße Milena und arbeite seit April 2021 bei iFixit im Community Management - zuerst als Praktikantin und inzwischen als Werkstudentin.
Ich lebe in Tübingen und mache dort momentan meinen Master in Medienwissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Öffentlichkeit und Verantwortung. Ich interessiere mich sehr für feministische und queere Theorie und Themen rund um soziale Gerechtigkeit. Da soziale Benachteiligungen häufig auch Hand in Hand mit ökologischen Problemen gehen, ist auch Nachhaltigkeit ein wichtiger Aspekt in meinem Leben, den ich versuche so gut es geht zu integrieren. Die Tatsache, dass iFixit versucht, die Welt zu einem saubereren, sichereren und besseren Ort zu machen, indem Menschen dabei geholfen wird Dinge selbstständig zu reparieren und eine Plattform für kostenlosen Wissensaustausch geboten wird, ist meiner Meinung nach ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Nachhaltigkeit und ein richtiger Schritt in die Zukunft.
Nachdem ich bereits erste praktische Erfahrungen in der Online-Kommunikation und dem Social-Media-Management bei einem Fair-Fashion-Shop machen konnte, möchte ich nun im Community Management eine weitere Seite des e-Commerce kennenlernen. Was ich mitbringe: Offenheit für neue Herausforderungen, einen Kopf, der gerne stundenlang grübelt und viel Motivation zu etwas ‚sinnvollem‘ mit beizutragen.
Handwerklich bin ich leider (bisher) nicht besonders begabt, jedoch gehen mir zu meinem Glück auch selten Dinge kaputt (ich tendiere dafür aber leider dazu meine Kopfhörer zu verlieren). Einmal habe ich mein MacBook aufgeschraubt, um den Lüfter zu reinigen und mich dabei wie ein richtiger Profi gefühlt… habe sogar eine Anleitung darüber geschrieben
In meiner Freizeit verbringe ich viel Zeit mit meinen zwei Hunden Müsli und Wilma. Ich liebe es in der Natur zu sein, bin jedoch auch daheim auf dem Sofa ganz glücklich mit guter Musik, Podcasts, Büchern, Filmen und Serien. Zudem koche (und esse) ich super gerne. Tierschutz, Menschenrechte und Umweltschutz beschäftigen mich viel, weshalb ich mich glücklich schätze, dass die Mission von iFixit auch meine Interessen und meinen Wunsch nach einer besseren Welt teilt.
