Introduction
Hello there! My name is Steven Boughey. I am what I would consider a “senior” (in my final year, I hope, at OIT. I am an adult, primarily on-line learner living in the Portland Oregon area (Sherwood). I am seeking my BA degree in Emergency Medical Services/ Health Care Administration degree.
I am a married father of 3 daughters (20, 18, and 15). I enjoy watching sports, especially my daughters, who all played year-round competitive basketball and soccer during their high school years. We were a traveling youth sports family! We are also a family that enjoys the arts, particularly musical theatre.
Professionally I have been employed at Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue for over 21 years. I am the Division Chief of Emergency Medical Services. I have been in fire and ems services for over 27 years working in both the public and private sector during my career.
Aspirations/Goals
I am seeking this degree to enhance my management and leadership skills. It is my hope that this degree will improve my ability to eventually become a Fire Chief sometime in the next 5 years.
Projects
I have led several complex PATs (Project Action Teams) here at TVF&R over the years. A couple worth noting are:
· Lead an analysis team for evaluation to reconfigure our entry level academy curriculum and skills guide. This required regulatory research, policy planning, instructors guide creation, and curriculum development.
· Hazardous Materials Apparatus Design Team lead-Lead a project action team for the development of specification, design, and functional requirements for the build of a Haz Mat response truck. This was a 1.5-year project that entailed, technical specification design components, budget management, and use justification processes.
· Currently serving as the Operations Section Chief on the TVF&R COVID -19 Task Force- This is the command group that has been managing all things COVID since this past February.
Repair Experience
I have minimal experience with repairing things. I have occasionally consulted online guides and Youtube to fix items at home. These resources have proven very useful and have saved me money over the years.
Hobbies
In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, listening to music, hanging with family, and my 3 cats.
How does this project relate to you?—My project management experience should aid me in the successful management of the initiatives associated with this project. In emergency services, manuals and field guides are used for many field activities associated with medical equipment, and firefighting.
