How I cursed this site forever

I joined iFixit back in 2020 to disassemble my (brother's) Nintendo 3DS. I can remember the details pretty vividly - I was working in the kitchen with the same small box of screws I use today, sitting on a high chair while there was an ice cream debacle, taking photos I'd later end up using as a profile picture, much to the bemusement of my then-friends. I was positively absorbed by the process, attempting to see if I could do anything about the console's shoulder buttons (Mario Kart 7 in particular wasn't kind to already dysfunctional buttons). Somehow, it worked... ish. (I fixed this properly on 6/5/2023!)

Things ramped up in 2021, as I bought an Xbox 360 S. On the very day I got it, I disassembled the PSU. I'm not joking. A Wii and PlayStation 2 followed suit, and then the rest is history.

What I'm doing here

I fix things. By no means am I some computer god, but it's a fun hobby to kill a few hours. From controllers to vacuum cleaners, consoles to whatever else I can't think of. It's probably not impressive by other standards, but I've brought them to working order, or better.

I contribute semi-actively here to fix people's grammar, markup, photos, information and formatting. Think of me as an iFixit for iFixit, or something. That's why my repuation tends to jump up over time. Seeing the guides that need work dwindle in number is satisfying, for whatever reason.

🎮?!

I've been buying up some consoles that are broken (Ebay bought one for me, so there's that) to (hopefully) fix and perhaps flip it as a refurbished device for a second life.

And... yes, this is a gaming channel. Feel free to take a look around (or don't), see for yourself that I have way too much free time, whatever.
