Hi! I'm Panos 👋,

I'm a high school student born and raised in Greece, passionate about fixing, making hardware and software projects and saving my favorite electronics from hitting the landfills of the world, instead making their owners happy for a little (or a lot) longer.

Repair background

I've been a member of iFixit since 2018, when I fixed my first PS4, when a repairman quoted "150$ for a motherboard or power supply replacement". As an 11 year old kid with very little experience but loads of curiosity, I questioned why the repair shop wouldn't try to diagnose the issue instead of just replace an entire part, so I decided to dig deeper. I discovered that all that was wrong was the capacitive power button's metal plate, which had detached after it took a good dose of Linus Sebastian. Ever since, I've loved fixing my own things or helping my friends and family fix theirs. I occasionally 📹 repairing stuff or 🎮 modding over on my YouTube channel while chatting with friends and anyone who happens to be passing by.

My lab equipment

My 🧰 includes my beloved iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit (which I got for my birthday a few years ago, a gift I still find to be one of the best ones I've ever received), a MiniWare TS100 portable soldering iron (that runs Tetris!!), a 10€ usb microscope and various test equipment I've gathered over the years from mostly my grandparents that used to do mechanical work as a hobby.

Other hobbies

During my free time, other than fixing stuff I run my own homelab server with selfhosted chat and social services such as Matrix and Invidious, which is open to the public. I'm also an admin in the Wii Mini Hacking community on discord, where we try to unlock the quirks of that old and forgotten console. I also sometimes play the 🎸 to fender off my frustration when things aren't going very well.

Other hobbies of mine include traveling around the world and trying out the unique dishes of each country (as a Greek, eating kind of runs in my blood).

I like listening to Queen, The Beatles, Deep Purple, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc. Favorite places I've been to are Dubai and Iceland, which have both been very different from anything else I've ever experienced. My favorite food has got to be the traditional Greek Pastitsio, to which my father occasionally puts a weird spin on, such as this Salmon-filled one (instead of the normal mince filling) that he made for April Fools 2022 (spoiler: it wasn't as bad as one might think):

At first I was really confused, turns out it was really tasty, thanks dad!
