    • The speaker has a small peg that slides into a slot beneath the home button cable socket.

    • Lift the speaker and pull it toward the side of the phone to free this peg from the Lightning connector assembly.

    • Remove the speaker.

When reassembling, I found it easier and cleaner to reinstall the speaker after the lightning connector but before the piece that sits under the home button connector. That way you don't have to slide that peg under it. Just install it and the two screws that hold it in place after the speaker.

There's the tab to the left of the speaker, as well as a small plastic bit at the top that needs to fit under the logic board. If you skip steps 25-34, you can still remove the speaker & proceed, but be careful of those 2 parts when taking it apart as well as putting it back together.
