Introduction

The drive coupling is the small gear-like piece attached to the top of the blender base where it serves to attach the motor to the blades. If the teeth are worn down it should be replaced by following these steps.

    • Turn the blender on its side so the bottom panel is facing you.

    • Unscrew the 22mm Phillips #1 screw on the indent of the panel.

    • Unscrew the 3 screws in the rubber holes.

    • Remove the bottom panel.

    • Place the screwdriver in the head of the middle flat-head screw.

    • Unscrew this screw while holding the coupling with your other hand and not allowing it to rotate.

    • This screw may be reverse-threaded.

    • Once the coupling mechanism has been loosened all the way, gently pull it off the top of the blender.

    I have a Model SDM50. A lot of online instructions address that screw/bolt but mine, like yours, and unlike the models for many of the instructions, cannot be accessed without removing the plate. The part came with absolutely no hint on how to install it. Waring should pay you and utilize your instructions at its website.
