Introduction

In this guide we will teach you how to properly replace an LCD screen on the Sony SLT-A57. This repair is necessary when the current LCD screen is broken in some way and needs replaced with a new one. In replacing the LCD screen you can expect problems with the display to be resolved, such as being scratched or broken. There are not any special skills required to replace the LCD screen with a new one, and only requires basic tools. While the process is somewhat difficult, if you correctly follow the directions the replacement can be done efficiently and error-free.

    • Delicately pry open the LCD screen from the plastic frame starting with the top edge of the screen (the top edge is on the left side of the camera when holding it). Pull open the bottom side of the screen after the top to avoid damaging the yellow flex cables located near the bottom edge.

    • When removing the broken screen be careful not to damage the thin adhesive strip that holds the display to the frame, as you will need to transfer this strip to the new screen.

    • Gently unplug the two small yellow flex cables from the bottom edge of the printed circuit board.

  3. LWjyZXhrJ6cu5xBF
    • Carefully remove the thin adhesive strip that surrounds the old display and transfer it to the new one.

    • Unplug the wide yellow flex cable from the printed circuit board.

    • Gently peel the circuit board from the old display. Avoid touching the sticky surface.

    • Plug the wide yellow flex cable into the new display. Do not stick the circuit board down yet.

    • Tilt the flex cable and circuit board away from the display, then reattach the two small flex cables that come from the plastic frame.

  4. F1HnHTgZqHiJx2YE
    • While being careful not to unplug the flex cables, gently press the circuit board to the back of the new display.

    • Delicately place the replacement screen onto the camera with the screen facing outwards.

    • Rub carefully but firmly all around the edge of the new display to ensure that the adhesive strip firmly holds the screen to the frame.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
