Introduction
Opening up the phone is one of the most challenging steps when replacing the battery due to the adhesive. I found that products like the iSclack are not stiff enough when used as a set of suction cup pliers to overcome the adhesive strength even when heated.
What is really required is a setup that takes advantage of the inherent weaknesses of adhesives: heat + sustained tension. The iSclack can be used not as a set of pliers, but instead as a hanger. It can be mounted in a vice (such as a panavise) and connected via suction cup to the phone screen. Add another suction cup on the phone back(I placed the suction cup that came with the iFixit battery replacement kit) off centered toward the bottom. Now all that is left is to hang some weights (I used 7 pounds) from the suction cup on the phone bottom and direct heat towards the bottom of the phone being careful not to melt the suction cup . After a few minutes, the back started to pull away and I could place the plastic pick in the gap. Once the first pick is inserted, the back can be removed like it is shown in the iFixit youtube video.

The weights are hung from the cable out of the picture. Don't hang too much weight or the suction cups might fail and the phone will drop on the floor
