Introduction

Repair of the Mayfan 3rd party Jon-Con Switch controller shoulder button. These buttons seem to stop working after a couple of drops on the floor.

There seem to be multiple controllers out there with the same design per my Amazon search.

    • Use a J0 Philips screwdriver to carefully remove the four screws. Screw head strips easily. Do not force it.

  2. F2AeUujmwkd4cFuC
    • Use a pry tool to open the controller once the screws are removed. The plastic cover for the shoulder button will most likely fall out. There are no springs on this button.

  3. HddTVlAjH2F33Ocl
    • The button will be bent back. This is especially visible from the front. You will see a gap between PCB and the button. Use some needle-nose pliers to bend the button back such that it is flush with the PCB.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device insert the shoulder button cover, and follow these instructions in reverse order.

Note: With additional drops the button will bend again and eventually break. The way it is mounted is a bad mechanical design.
