Introduction

This guide shows you how to replace the battery in the Lenovo 300e Chromebook 2nd Gen Laptop. This guide is moderate difficulty as you will only be unscrewing, remove the backing and disconnecting the battery cable

It's highly recommended that you use an Anti-Static Wrist Strap for this guide as you will be working on exposed electronics.

    • Make sure you power off your Chromebook first as you will be disconnecting the battery!

    • Remove all 9 screws on the back of the Chromebook with a Phillips #0 screwdriver

    • The screws circled on this Chromebook's back casing are all identical!

    • Use an opening tool such as a spudger and carefully work your way around the laptop to remove the back cover

    • Remove the black tape covering the connector, then using a spudge tool, carefully unplug the battery from the motherboard

    • Remove the 4 screws holding in the battery and set them aside

    • Make sure to separate the screws for the battery from the screws for the backing that were removed in the first step!

It should be mentioned that "newer" models of this particular Chromebook are/have been released. The Chromebooks' battery compartment's design have been slightly modified in that the battery compartment are now reversed.

So, since the battery's connector cable is so short, it's impossible to twist it to fit.

So, make sure you're getting the correct battery for the correct "model".

FYI, the "older" models have the power button close to the back corner of the device, and the "newer" models have the power button near the middle of the device.
