Introduction

Performing a force restart should not delete any data, but can be helpful if your iPhone XS is frozen or needs troubleshooting.

  1. e5LKxRUDXRQ5XWWd
    • Quickly press and release the volume-up button (1).

    • Quickly press and release the volume-down button (2).

  2. mTlOn4CCOxTjcMZV
    • Finally, press and hold the side button (3) until the Apple logo appears, and then release.

    • The screen will temporarily go dark as the iPhone shuts down and reboots. Keep holding the button until you see the  logo.

Thank you so much for such a simplified step by step guide. I was pulling my hair out for 5 hours since the other websites weren’t specific enough on how long to hold down the Volume up and down button.

this method of shutdown would not work for me. And I can’t open up setting to go under general to shutdown either
