Introduction

After several years of use, the DELUX M618 mouse wheel starts to slip, eventually reaching the point where the rubber part of the wheel slips over the inner hub and the hub no longer rotates. The good news is this can be repaired without any disassembly of the mouse!

    • Remember that super glue sets up very quickly, so don't get any on your fingers!

    • Get a small amount of superglue ready for spreading with a toothpick.

    • Using a dental pick, I was able to lift the rubber wheel with one hand and apply a dot of superglue on the raised center of the plastic hub with the other. This might be easier to accomplish with two people.

    • Carefully lower the rubber back onto the hub.

    • Clean any excess glue from the side of the wheel.

    • Apply four dots of glue - one every quarter turn of the scroll wheel.

Conclusion

After gluing, allow the mouse to set for at least several hours before using.
