Introduction
As we continue to wear our clothing, it may start to lose the durability it once had. Adding a hook and eyes on certain clothing such as a dress, would make the clothing item last longer. This guide would show step by step how to thread a sewing needle and how to properly sew on hook and eyes to a clothing item. By using this guide, it would prolong the life of the clothing item and reduce the amount of clothing someone may throw out.
Tools
-
-
Cut about 28 inches of thread and fold it in half which would be one loop and the two ends together.
-
Then thread the two ends through the eye of the needle.
-
-
-
Slide the needle down the thread until you reach about two inches from the loop.
-
Position the needle between the loop and pull through.
-
Next, pull on both ends of the thread to make them equal length before tying a knot.
-
-
-
Remove the hook and start by sewing a stitch where your hook was.
-
Then trim the extra thread close to the knot.
-
-
-
Sew on top of the knot three times to make sure it is secure.
-
Position the hook on top of the stitch.
-
Anchor the front part of the hook down by sewing over the bottom edge of the hook three times.
-
-
-
Now hold the other eye of the hook in place.
-
The needle is going to go in from the outside of the wired edge to inside the circle and pull that through till you get a small loop.
-
After that push, the needle through that loop and pull which create a small knot.
-
Now repeat this stitch two more times.
-
-
-
To position the eyes, place the hook and eyes together and line up the fabric so the edges match.
-
-
-
Hold it in place with your fingers. Start by stitching across the wire and trim the tail near the knot.
-
Sew on top of the knot and the wire three times to make sure it is secure.
