Introduction

In this replacement guide, the replacement of the speaker system of a HP Elitebook 840 Aero G8 will be demonstrated. This replacement may be necessary if your laptops speakers are having issues such as quiet sound or static feedback.

For this replacement, the only tools necessary will be a Phillips Head #0 screwdriver, a spudger, and an iFixit opening tool.

    • Turn laptop upside down and remove the 5 housing screws using the Philips Head #0 (PH0). These screws will be 4.48mm in length

    • The cover will then be able to be removed using an iFixit opening tool

    • Using the iFixit opening tool, remove the right hand side speaker.

    • Using the iFixit opening tool, remove the left hand side speaker

    • Using the plastic spudger, disconnect the speaker power cable.

    • Remove wire from device apparatus until fully isolated.

    • The speaker system can now be removed from the computer to fix or replace as needed.
