GE Carescape R860 Alarm Light (PWA) Board Replacement

Introduction

This guide can help you replace the alarm light board (PWA), part M1227419-S), for your GE Carescape R860.

If the alarm light is malfunctioning, replacing the PWA board may be necessary. To get access to the PWA board, one must first remove the rear housing and shield of the display unit. For instructions on removal, refer to the Display Unit Disassembly.

For additional information regarding the replacement of the alarm light board (PWA), see section 9.5.3 (pg. 251) of the GE CARESCAPE R860 Technical Reference Manual.

Tools

Step 1

Using an opening tool, gently pry the alarm light lens (boxed) from the display unit.

Step 2

Loosen the seven screws that hold the rear housing using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
Remove the rear housing.

Step 3

Cut the cable tie holding the two cables at the lower right side using scissors.

Step 4

Disconnect the touch controller cable.

Step 5

Disconnect the Keypad harness at the Carrier Board.

Step 6

Disconnect the encoder harness from the Carrier Board.

Step 7

Disconnect the speaker harness from the Carrier Board and set the speakers aside.

Step 8

Disconnect the alarm light harness from the Carrier Board.

Step 9

Loosen (do not remove) the five screws at the top edge of the shield just enough to raise it and slide the shield away with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
