Introduction

If your device seems to be turning on but the screen isn't displaying anything, you may be able to fix the issue by replacing the screen.

    • Unscrew the back plate counterclockwise until it comes off.

    • Push the black battery tab next to the battery to get the battery out.

    • Remove the battery.

    • Remove six 8mm long Philips head screws with the J0 Philips head from the outer case.

    • Use J0 Phillips head to remove two 6mm long Phillips head screws from the motherboard.

    • Remove the motherboard (green) from the front case housing.

    • Use the J0 Phillips head screws to remove two 5mm long Phillips head screws from the plastic bracket holding LCD in place.

    • Remove the LCD screen from the front cover.

    • Slide the black bar toward the LCD screen in order to remove the screen from slot.

Good job! That guide indeed helped me a lot to give my Drift HD a good cleaning. Was a bit tough to remove the PCB, but after some fiddling it worked. Should be mentioned that you can remove the microphone from the surrounding rubber gasket so you can wash the gasket with ordinary soap. You can also separate the two PCBs (they are just stacked ontop of earch other using press-fit connectors)for easier access, e. g. if you want to clean and re-grease the collar of the lens unit. Also keep an eye on the aluminum cooler star. It has some heat conduction compond on it that you want to spread evenly. Don't wash it off entirely!
