Introduction

This guide will help you replace your Corsair Dark Core RGB PRO SE mouse scroll wheel if it is unresponsive or it glitches when in use.

The scroll wheel is located in between the left and right keys of the mouse. It is used for scrolling up or down a page on the computer screen. Before beginning the replacement, reset the mouse. Doing so might eliminate the issue.

Other reasons the scroll wheel might stop functioning are grime build-up or low battery issues. If your mouse has come into contact with water or food, that could also contribute to the issue. Be sure to clean the mouse and check the batteries before replacing the wheel.

If none of these work, you may go ahead and use this guide to replace the wheel.

I have a reassembly tip and two bits of constructive (hopefully) criticism.

First the criticism, the article could use some suggestions on how to find a replacement scroll wheel to install (I was only looking to tear it down to clean the contacts as best I could, so it wasn't an issue for me). Also, the photo in step nine could use some adjustment, the top red circle is over two screws, and (at least it wasn't to me) it's not immediately obvious which is the correct one.

When reversing from steps 10 to 9 on reassembly, I found the magnets that keep the replaceable side piece in place kept either stopping the part going in correctly or pinging together (and across the room), I found that putting the side piece on kept the magnets in place and made putting the part back on much easier.
