Introduction

The motor within the Black and Decker BDH9600CHV could fail. If that happens this guide will show you how to take the housing apart and extract the motor from the device. After extracting the motor from the device the replacement motor must then be inserted into the device and then the device closed back together.

If the device doesn't work after this, simply take the motor and insert the prongs on the opposite sides that they are inserted into on the circuit board.

    • Pull the housing apart

    • When you pull apart the housing pieces could fall out. Be sure to keep track of them.

    • Remove the motor unit from the housing

    • Note that the black disk needs to be firmly pulled it will resist, but can be pulled directly off of the pin if it is pulled hard enough.

    • Remove the motor from the circuit board.

    • The motor makes contact with the board at 2 points. These may be bent or distorted. Straighten them with a pair of needle nose pliers in order to remove.

Where do you find a replacement motor?

Yes, I was also disturbed by no mention of the motor. I’m trying this one:

I’m also taking a chance that it might also work for the ‘CHV1410L’ model. When I opened the device, the motor appeared to be the same, even though the whole unit has a remodeled look. I’ll keep you posted.

    1) That skycraft motor… I don’t think the shaft was long enough for the -L or -L32 model. Glad I only paid $5 bucks.

    2) I could not get through Step 3… with my model. I could not pull the black-disk off, no matter how hard I pulled. I was going to break something, and it was not going to be pretty. I was going to need a new black disk. I wasn’t sure but I believe as stated in my #1 here, that the shaft went all the way through, which made my replacement motor shaft too short.

    3) I just tried cleaning thoroughly the whole area with a can of air spray. Then put some wd-40 on it. My 3 & 1 oil is in the shed. That would probably be better. Then I tried running it a bit. In my experience in the past with stuff like this though. Once it goes, it stays gone. Like its in the bearings. It ran good for a few seconds. That was all the power it had before I put it back on the charging plate. It is still just the apart housing with hanging guts.

yep it went back super-loud right away….
