This guide will demonstrate how to replace the metal bracket on the Asus Chromebook C202. The bracket may need to be replaced if the Chromebook is heating up unexpectedly or not cooling properly. This is a relatively simple guide to follow. There are many pictures throughout the guide that will aid you in replacing the bracket and show exactly what parts you will need to remove to access the bracket, pay attention to them so as to avoid damaging the laptop or its casing.

    • Turn the device over so the bottom is facing up.

    • Remove the ten Phillips #1 8.0 mm screws.

    • Carefully use the plastic opening tool to pry the palm rest apart from the bottom cover. Start from one spot and systematically work your way around until the whole palm rest is detached.

    • You may have to use a spudger to lift open the respective latches.
