Introduction
The battery powers the laptop. Before taking anything out of the laptop, always remove the battery to avoid shocking yourself and damaging other components. Over time, the battery will lose the ability to charge. Replace the battery with a new one to regain your original battery life.

I actually used a ball point pin instead of a spudger (its dark, I'm female and I am not walking to Office Max in this neighborhood by myself). And voici, the battery came off. Now to see if the damned computer will reboot.
I have a C710-2856, which uses a 14.8V battery. All of the extended batteries say they won't work on the 14.8V battery .Does anyone know of an extended battery that WOULD work with the 14.8V version of this Chromebook. I can up the RAM to 16GB, and I can put any SSD, but the only weakness left is the short battery life.
I wish I had an answer for you! I'm looking into the same thing. All the extended batteries are 11.1 v and not compatible with the 14.8 v need of the C710-2856. Did you ever get an answer to this? perhaps elsewhere? Thanks!
i have a C710-2815? what kind of battery do i need for a replacement
