Background and Identification

The eVent Inspiration device (Model numbers: F7300000, F7200000, and FR100000) is a versatile medical ventilation system developed to treat patients from infancy through adulthood. The technology patented by eVent Medical for this ventilation system consists of the following subsystems:

  • Gas Inlet System
  • Gas Blending System
  • Gas Delivery System
  • Safety Valve Block
  • Proximal Measurements
  • Exhalation System
  • Oxygen Monitoring System
  • Nebulizer

These systems work alongside a built-in compressor and rechargeable battery (100 to 240 VAC). This system was designed to provide necessary medical intervention (ventilation) for patients both in hospital and during transport.

The eVent Inspiration ventilation system stands at 13” tall, and weights 48 pounds. The device sits on top of a 27 pound stand. Most notably, the device can be recognized by its 17” display screen.

In the event of a hardware or software error, a designated diagnostic code will display on the device’s main screen. The displayed errors are categorized into three subcategories. Technical errors include (but are not limited to) sensor, controller, and valve replacements. Calibration errors include (but are not limited to) excessive pressure increase/decrease, and oxygen sensor errors. General operation errors include additional errors that fall outside the scope of the previous two (i.e., the battery is discharged). A full list of error codes can be found in section 7 of the eVent Inspiration Service Manual.

In the event of an error message, a Power On Self-Test (POST) should be performed. The POST option can be accessed through the normal start-up screen by using the rotary control knobs. Once the POST has finished, additional instruction for each specific code can be found in section 4 of the eVent Inspiration Service Manual.
