Background and Identification

A veterinary patient monitor is a medical device that measures and displays a patient’s vital signs. This allows the Veterinarian to monitor the patients status during a procedure for example and make necessary changes or adjustments as needed. Under anesthesia, the patients response is not always predictable so it is vital to monitor each patient.

The major vitals signs a monitor is measuring are oxygenation, ventilation, and respiration. A monitor may have a built-in printer, alarm or touch screen depending on the model.
