Background and Identification
The STERIS Reliance 120-220 Cart Washer is a hospital cart washer made by STERIS Corporation, an American medical equipment company that specializes in sterilization and surgical products for the American healthcare system. Cart washers are designed to provide cleaning, disinfecting, and drying of instrument case carts, containers, utensils, and other reusable items for departments with high-capacity reprocessing.
Sales of the STERIS Reliance 120-220 Cart Washer ended in March 2013 with the introduction of the Vision 1300 Series Cart and Utensil Washer/Disinfector. As of September 2021, STERIS Corporations plans to discontinue certain critical replacement parts for the 120-220 model. Additionally, prices and lead times for the existing replacement parts and service contracts may increase because of technological obsolescence. STERIS guarantees that customers under multi-year parts and labor service contracts will receive parts and labor support on the 120-220 model to the extent parts are available for the remaining time on the customer’s service contract. However, they do not guarantee parts availability.
According to STERIS, the 120-220 model should have four preventative maintenance inspections each year, one per quarter. During the first quarter of the year, some of the 120-220’s parts should be replaced. If your Reliance 120-220 cart washer includes the internal injection pump, the detergent and rinse aid squeeze tubes should be replaced during the third quarter of the year.
