Background and Identification

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) Android smartphone is manufactured by Samsung Electronics as part of the Galaxy A series. It was introduced with the Galaxy A3 (2016), and Galaxy A5 (2016), and Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016) in December 2015. The A7 (2016) was released with black, white, gold, and pink bodies. The A7 (2016) is available in Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, but not available in North America and the rest of Europe. Its predecessor, the Galaxy A7 (2015) has broader availability in Europe, but the A7 (2016) was too expensive for sale in Europe.

The A7 (2016) sports a 5.5-inch display, whereas the A3 (2016), A5 (2016), and A9 (2016) feature 4.7-inch, 5.2-inch, and 6.0-inch displays, respectively. The A7 (2016) also has a slightly smaller display size when compared to the A7 (2017), which sports a 5.7-inch display. The Galaxy A7 (2016) includes a 3300 mAh non-removable battery, while its successor, the A7 (2017), contains a 3600 mAh battery. Unlike the A7 (2016), the A7 (2017) features a dedicated MicroSD card slot allowing a MicroSD card and a second SIM Card in dual SIM models to be used simultaneously.

The A7 (2016) does not include Always-on Display and is not dust- or water-resistant, unlike the A7 (2017). Both the 2016 and 2017 version include scratch-resistant 3-D glass backings and aluminum frames. The A7 (2016) comes with 16 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM, while the A7 (2017) includes the same amount of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
