Background and Identification
The Salter 1036 is a thin digital scale with a maximum capacity of 5 kg or 11 lb. The LCD display in the front of the device displays the weight of any object in both metric and imperial units; press the button to the right of the display to cycle through the units. The scale is powered by one CR2032 button cell battery which can be accessed in a compartment on the underside of the device. The scale will automatically turn off if it is not in use.
Two of the units (mL and fl oz) on the scale are used for measuring the volume of a liquid. These volume measurements work best for water-based liquids like wine, milk, stock, or cream because they have a similar density to water. To make measurements excluding the weight of a bowl or cup, press the “on-zero-off“ button to the left of the display with only the container sitting on the scale. Press the button again when the scale is clear to reset the zero point.
The 1036 scale comes in black, dark or light gray, and red. The center of the device contains a circular stainless steel element and the brand name “Salter” is printed on the corner of the body. You can identify this scale by finding the model number “1036” on a sticker on the bottom of the device.
