Background and Identification
The Respironics Remstar LX and LX Plus are known as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines. CPAP machines are a common treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (when the muscles in the throat relax and obstruct the individual’s breathing). CPAP machines use a face mask and/or nosepiece to continually deliver a steady stream of pressurized air to the patient. This pressurized air essentially “pushes” the throat muscles back to their normal position, so they no longer block the patient’s airway.
Note: The only difference between LX and Plus LX models is that the Plus LX has a time meter.
