Background and Identification
The Nonin Avant 4100 is a wrist-worn pulse oximeter manufactured by Nonin Medical. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation. Nonin Medical designs and manufactures pulse oximeters, regional oximeters, and capnographs for patient monitoring.
The Nonin Avant 4000 digital pulse oximetry system includes the Avant 4000 display unit with a rechargeable battery pack, the Avant 4100 wrist-worn patient module with AA batteries, the 8000AA-WO finger-clip sensor, and a universal desktop battery charger with an IEC320 connector. The Nonin Avant 4100 works in conjunction with the Avant 4000 digital pulse oximetry system. This system is designed to measure and display the patient’s pulse rate and functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin. It can be used for spot-checking and for continuous monitoring for adult, pediatric, and infant patients.
The Avant 4100 wrist-worn patient module is paired via Bluetooth to the 4000 display unit. It sends oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and plethysmographic data to the 4000 tabletop display. Each individual wrist-worn patient module includes a unique identification number so that it is easier to confirm that the patient module is paired to the 4000 display. A connection-status LED light provides a visual indication of whether the patient module is correctly paired to the display.
The Avant 4100 patient module can measure a pulse rate between 18 and 300 pulses per minute. It is powered by two 1.5-Volt AA batteries and can operate for 120 hours with new batteries.
