Background and Identification

The Logitech M305 is a wireless mouse released in 2010. It is small and fairly inexpensive. The mouse is made from black or silver plastic with rubber grips on the sides. It has a Logitech logo on the top that sits under your palm when the mouse is in your hand. Since it is symmetrical and has no buttons on the sides, it can be handled easily by either a right-handed or left-handed user. Besides the two standard buttons, the mouse has a clicky scroll wheel which doubles as a middle-click button when you press it down.

On the bottom of the M305 there is a compartment to hold the single AA battery that powers the device. There is also a small cubby near the battery where you can store the wireless receiver that the mouse uses. The receiver plugs into a USB slot on your computer to enable communication between the computer and the mouse. Since this is a small part of the mouse that can get lost, Logitech sells replacements specifically for the M305 on their support website. This mouse cannot use a newer Logitech wireless receiver like the Unifying receiver. When it is not in use, the mouse will automatically enter sleep mode, but you can use an on/off switch on the bottom for manual control.

To identify this mouse, look for the model number “M305” printed on the bottom of the device.
