Background and Identification

This gas-powered hedge trimmer is manufactured by Little Wonder, a company that produces power tools for garden maintenance. This tool is made of a long serrated blade powered by a gasoline engine. This machine is intended for trimming and clearing use on hedges and stems or trunks up to 1 inch thick. Long tools like this one are seen as the safer way to prune an area, because more branches and tall hedges can be cut from the ground as long as you have a long enough tool. This means that the user doesn’t need to climb and balance on a ladder while trimming.

The 2230S Hedge Trimmer has several different variations, which can be split into three time periods. The first version is all machines from June of 1997, and has an engine with the identifying number SV-4BHIE. The second version is all machines produced from April 2002 to to 2007. This version features a DE Loop Handle and Cover Profile Engine. Finally, there are all machines made from 2008 to date, which have an SV5H/2 engine. These guides are intended to service the first variation (Rev. A) of these machines, aka the ones manufactured from 1997 to April 2002. The Owner’s Manual linked below corresponds to this first variation, but manuals for the other variations can be found on the product page.
