Background and Identification

The ThinkPad L450 is a durable laptop manufactured by Lenovo in 2014. As part of Lenovo's L series of Thinkpads, it is priced and spec'd in between the cheaper E series and the high-end T series. After the "L" in the model name, the "4" signifies a screen size of 14-inches; this laptop display is available with either a 1366x768 TN panel or a nicer 1920x1080 IPS panel. You can identify this laptop model by looking for the model number "L450" printed just below the right edge of the screen. For more specific information, you can find the serial number on a stick on the bottom of the device and enter these digits on the Lenovo support website.

Unlike the previous model, the ThinkPad L440, this laptop is thinner and has a soldered processor instead of an upgradeable socket. Lenovo also removed the optical drive for this model. Once you remove the back panel of the laptop, you can replace quite a few components in the computer including the standard 2.5-inch form factor hard drive and the battery. As for memory, the L450 has two slots for DDR3 RAM and can accept up to 32 GB total.
