Background
The Lenovo 3000 N500 is a laptop released in 2008. It was released 2 years after the Lenovo 3000 was released. With the IdeaPad being introduced in 2008 as well, the Lenovo 3000 N500 were not supported for long. They stopped being sold the same year they were introduced, 2008. These laptops were made to be more affordable and targeted individuals instead of larger businesses. One of the larger selling points was that it has a built-in HDMI port which allowed users to watch Blu-Ray movies in 1080p should they want to do so, which was relatively new for the time, and users loved this feature.
The 3000 N500 was shortly replaced because the IdeaPad offered new features such as a wider, frameless screen, Dolby speakers, touch controls, and a more responsive, better feeling trackpad. This was Lenovo's first attempt of selling products outside of China, and began selling these Laptops in New York. Lenovo would eventually expand the sell of the laptops online which allowed them to be sold across the U.S. It is unknown how many units of the N500 were sold. The cost of these laptops were around $500 when they began being sold which was a fair price for the time.
Because this laptop was not supported for long, not many malfunctions or recalls were found. The most notable one was that sometimes the trackpad would not work properly. Another note is that this laptop was not made gaming, but rather personal or professional use. Outside of that, many customers were happy about how well the laptop performed given the price. The longevity of the laptop is also a plus, as some users reported having a multiple year old N500 that performed as if it was brand new. Overall, this laptop was not in anyway revolutionary, but it held its own for its time and its price.
Identification
The screen on the Lenovo N500 is 15.4 inches, and weighs almost 6 pounds. It looks like a typical laptop from the era, large and box-shaped. This model can be differentiated from similar models because of its screen size and built-in HDMI port, and the only color it was sold in was black. The model number can be located on the bottom of the device.
