Background

The JBL Everest Elite is a series of headphones for everyday users. The JBL Everest Elite 300 (model number: TS0176-JF0005243), was released on March 15th, 2016. At the time of its release the headphones were sold for around $130. The headphone are equipped with noise cancellation and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity. These two features allow users to control the amount of noise they hear from their surroundings. Also, the Bluetooth feature allow users to not rely on wires to listen to their music and they have the ability to make calls, since there is a built-in microphone in the headphones. Another aspect of the headphones is that users can download the My JBL Headphones App in order to even personalize and control their listening experience. With the app the user can easily access all of the headphone settings.

However, the headphones are currently discontinued by JBL. One reason for the discontinuation is because many consumers complained about the speaker sound quality, earpads providing discomfort, and the device not powering on after a couple months of usage. The headphone is discontinued by JBL, but the company still used this model as a base for their future products.

Despite some of the flaws that consumers experienced with the device, there were a lot of positive features that consumers enjoyed. The headphones included NXT Gen Active noise-cancelling, though for the time in 2016, was a newer feature to many headphones. Consumers overall enjoyed that feature. Also, the ability of the headphones to connect to Bluetooth and become wireless was also a feature users enjoyed. Finally, another feature important feature that users enjoyed was the long battery life. The technology was a bit ahead of its time, and some of the positive takeaways from the device was used in future models as well.

Identification

The JBL Everest Elite 300 differs from other JBL Elite headphones for a few reasons. The device is distinguishable because it is very lightweight, and the earpads have an on-ear design. Another difference is that the noise cancelation is much more efficient than the other JBL Elite headphones. Also, the headphones come in more colorways then previous JBL Everest Elite headphones. For instance, the JBL Everest Elite 300 comes in an all-black colorway, white and rose gold, and dark blue. Finally, another identifiable factor of the headphones is that both earcups are imprinted with a JBL logo.
