Background and Identification
The Invacare Platinum Series 5, 10, and XL are oxygen concentrators sold by Invacare. Invacare Corporation is an American producer of medical equipment like walkers, respiratory products, and wheelchairs. An oxygen concentrator is a medical or industrial device that concentrates the oxygen from either ambient air or another gas supply. Oxygen concentrators selectively remove nitrogen and other gases from the air to provide an oxygen-enriched stream.
The Invacare Platinum Series 5, 10, and XL oxygen concentrators are designed for individual use. These concentrators are electronically operated and should not be used with extension cords. The Invacare Platinum Series 5, 10, and XL models can be used with a seven-foot cannula and a maximum of 50 feet of crush-proof tubing. For the Platinum 10 model, Invacare recommends using up to 25 feet of high-flow tubing with a high-flow cannula for all flow rates. The Platinum 5 and XL models can produce flow rates between one-half and five liters per minute. The Pediatric Flowmeter Accessory should be used for flow rates less than one liter per minute. The Platinum 10 model can produce between two and ten liters per minute. Each of the Platinum Series models can be used with an optional humidifier.
The Invacare Platinum Series 5, 10, and XL oxygen concentrators are typically contained in white or grey plastic housing. The machines include four caster wheels for maneuverability. A built-in handle is located at the top of the oxygen concentrator.
