Background and identification

An infusion pump draws fluids from a bag of fluid and delivers it at a steady rate. Some pumps can administer multiple fluids at the same time, saving space by using a system with three pumps.

A syringe pump, which is also called a syringe driver, delivers fluids using a syringe that is installed into the device. These are more compact, but can't deliver as much fluid at once.

Both devices are used to deliver intravenous fluids, to ensure accurate fluid and medication administration.
