An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a medical device that monitors a patient’s electrical brain activity through a set of electrodes placed on the scalp. Electroencephalograms are used to diagnose a number of issues, including epilepsy, strokes, sleep disorders, brain death, encephalitis (brain inflammation), and encephalopathy (brain dysfunction).
