Background and Identification

The Electric Eel Drain Cleaner model EK-R-1/2IC50EG1A is made by Electric Eel Manufacturing, an Ohio-based drain cleaning equipment supplier that was founded in 1939. Electric drain cleaners, also sometimes called plumber’s snakes, use a motor to twist and feed a cable into a pipe, removing debris and cleaning the pipe as they turn. This type of flexible cable is extremely useful because it can clean long sections of pipe, and it can also turn corners without damaging the cable or the pipe.

This product is intended to clean out drains and pipes of up to 50 feet, with diameters measuring between 2 and 4 inches wide. The drain cleaner functions by running a 1/2 inch diameter cable that is 50 feet long through the pipe. It is operated with a foot switch that extends or retracts the cable once it has been fed into the pipe, which allows the operator to use both hands to control the pipe. For safety and hygiene, gloves should be worn at all times when operating this product, and the operator should follow all safety guides given in the product manual.
