How to fix alignment on an E-TKT Label Printer
Tools
These are some common tools used to work on this device. You might not need every tool for every procedure.
Background
E-TKT is an open-source label maker that utilizes both old and new technology to create a modernized version of embossed label printing. By combining simple and widely available embossing tapes in a reliable mechanism with modern connectivity, E-TKT offers an alternative to traditional label printers that rely on DRM-enabled disposable cartridges.
The idea for the E-TKT label maker came from an experience with a poorly made manual labeling device. Despite the disappointing results, the fascination with the vintage embossed finish remained. Instead of purchasing a new electronic thermal label printer, the creator decided to build a label maker that combined the principles of embossed label printing with modern automation and connectivity.
E-TKT's design is based on the simple and reliable mechanism of a Motex E-101 manual embossing label maker, using a pressing mechanism and a daisy wheel to create embossed labels. The label maker also includes modern features such as automation and connectivity, allowing it to be controlled via a web interface or command line.
The label maker utilizes widely available and inexpensive DYMO compatible 9mm x 3m embossing tapes, reducing waste and avoiding the use of DRM-enabled disposable cartridges. The label maker's open-source design also allows for customization and improvements by the user community.
