Background and identification

The Savina was the first Dräger ventilator to utilise this turbine technology, debuting in 2000. By the year 2000, compressor-based breathing gas dosing technology had already met, if not exceeded, stringent standards for ventilation quality. This is especially true during mechanical ventilation when spontaneous breathing occurs. However, further advancements in the field of graphic monitoring were required to reach this higher requirement. Another benefit was the use of a breathing gas compressor for ventilation. Savina is especially beneficial for intra-hospital transfer because it uses ambient air to ventilate and is not dependent on a central gas supply.
