Background

The Dell Latitude series is a line of computers sold by Dell. Dell aimed to make these computers for businesses such as corporate enterprises, government, healthcare, and education markets. The Latitude series was made to compete with other systems such as the Lenovo ThinkPad. The Dell Latitude series can be configured to offer a rugged design such as the "XFR" and "ATG" which most directly competes with the Panasonic ToughBook.

The Dell Latitude was first offered on April 9th, 2020 and is no longer available for purchase. The Latitude 3510 was most reputable for it's use in bulk in the business world due to costs and capability. This laptop had a bad reputation of screens flickering or turning off suddenly which was fixed with a later model of the product. During the second quarter of 2020 there were approximately 14 million units manufactured.

Dell sold their Latitude laptops in 180 countries in 2020 and was sold in countries across all continents (excluding antarctica). The original price of this product was $1,123.61 starting but prices vary based on configuration. The laptop never made the news but it attracted a lot of attention from the business community. The laptop is very reliable having no official recalls from the manufacturer but a common complaint about the laptop was the screen flickering when there was tension placed on the lid to open or close the laptop. The laptop boasts a 3.5 star average rating on the Dell website with most people having no complaints. The Latitude 3510 succeeds the Latitude 3500 which is the 2019 variant of the 15.6 inch laptop like the 3510 is. The 3510 is preceded by the Latitude 3520 which released in 2021, and the Latitude 3530 which was released in 2022. The only difference in these models compared to the Latitude 3510 is that they come with updated hardware such as Intel's 11th, and 12th generation processors.

Identification

The identification of the product can be found using the product label located on the bottom of the laptop. Alternatively a Latitude 3510 can be identified with the product name often etched in the palm rest or by the top of the keyboard. Another way to identify the product is by using the Dell Support Assist application which is installed on most models of the Latitude 3510. To find this tool type in the Windows search bar "SupportAssist."

Another identification method to use if SupportAssist is not installed on the laptop is to type "System" in the search box then navigate to "Model" to see information about the model.

For other Operating Systems you will need to view computer information in the BIOS. To navigate to the BIOS Turn on your computer then at the Dell logo screen press F2 multiple times to access the BIOS or UEFI. In the BIOS menu find Product Model or System Name.
